Pioneer of the Year

Pioneer of the Year is a competition for young entrepreneurs making the world a better place. It is designed to support talented changemakers with potential of becoming a new kind of role models inspiring other young people to explore entrepreneurship as a channel for global engagement.
The successful pilot
A pilot round of Pioneer of the Year took place during the first half of 2011 supported by the British Council, WWF and The Hub. Ten young entrepreneurs between 18 and 30 went through our process, tailored to generate long term involvement among the participants and high engagement among the public. The winners shared a scholarship of SEK40 000, three global memberships at The Hub and continued mentoring with a coach of their choice. The project reached out to 1.4 million people through 18 published articles and four radio interviews. The competition attracted 30 000 visitors online and over 6000 votes were registered. The future of the project
Our vision for the project is to make Pioneer of the Year into a well known and scalable competition running in parallel in several different cities of the world. It shall give clear and measurable benefits to young entrepreneurs contributing to a sustainable future and create success stories that inspire young people to explore entrepreneurship as a way for involvement. Finalists from all years should feel involved in the project and continue creating value for the competition. We are currently looking for new partners to realize our vision.
