GlobalFOCUS

Short Movie Competition

When it comes to the role of climate change vis-à-vis fast growing economies like China, India and Brazil, there is an abiding need to move from a problem-centered analysis of the challenge to a solutions-centered one. It’s particularly important for the younger generation to get involved in this process in creative and interesting ways.

In this spirit, GlobalFOCUS partnered with the Chinese University of Communication in Beijing in 2008 to help showcase young people’s solutions in a short movie competition. Students were asked to make shorts about the challenges of climate change and the possible solutions that can lead us into a better future. The finalists were screened at a movie festival in Beijing, as well as in Europe, and the winning shorts were screened on the UNFCCC premises during the COP14 in Poznan, Poland, as well as at film festivals in Poland and Sweden. Similarly, at COP15 in Copenhagen, Denmark the 2009 winners were shown.
