Youth Leadership Program

GlobalFOCUS’ Youth Leadership Program (YLP), managed by our Beijing office, examines the perspective of Chinese youth on the possibilities of a low-carbon economy and the accompanying challenges. By highlighting the vision of the youth, YLP aims to influence future Chinese low-carbon policies, as well as market structure. The YLP also puts great emphasis on building youth leadership skills. Through courses and seminars in technology, investment analysis and project management, participants learn to creatively engage in the global climate crisis. Likewise, the courses seek to improve the participants’ skills of communication, cooperation, and analysis.

The Youth Leadership Program consists of four fields of study:

1. Leadership Training
2. A Low-Carbon Market Strategy for China
3. Green Campus
4. Communication and Coordination

You will become part of a project that has already produced some impressive and exciting results. In 2008, for example, GlobalFOCUS hosted and organised a ‘first-of-its-kind’ Climate Entrepreneurship workshop in Beijing, China. The workshop, which put special emphasis on building bridges between climate entrepreneurs in Asia and Europe, was attended by some 50 local entrepreneurs and students from Stockholm Business School, the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology, Beijing University and Tsinghua University.

Similarly, YLP has engaged Chinese students in learning more about climate entrepreneurship and helped spur direct action to reduce emissions on campuses and in the broader society around them.
