GlobalFOCUS first seminar in Almedalen!
Today Global Focus held our first seminar ever in Almedalen. Focusing on the already very influential report “12 climate entrepreneurs” we had invited David Andersson and Svante Bengtsson, two of the entrepreneurs in the report, for a discussion about visions and what to gain from CleanTech together with representatives from the academia, the WWF, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications among others. After participating in loads of seminars talking about the solutions needed during the week, it was finally time for one further step towards concretion. As Stefan Henningsson stated, to get to the low fossil economy we need 20 times lower emissions for each economic unit used. But of course there are still work to be done and issues to deal with. What all the panelist agreed upon was that we do not lack solutions and innovative people but that there is an immense lack of money invested in both research and marketing. The debate was also heating concerning whether to finance a large scale technological transfer with public or private funding, where to allocate the money and whether new laws or simplified rules for entrepreneurs are more efficient. Global Focus welcomes all means that contribute to a real solution.
A radical comment was made by David Andersson – we have to move away from discussing carbon neutral solutions when what we need is carbon negative solutions – everything else is just artificial respiration.
